Entering the fifth edition of ADHD Awareness Week, this year's theme is "Empowering Families: Transforming Challenges into Strength"- a campaign aim at educating the public on how to support families affected by ADHD in overcoming challenges related to studying, workplace dynamics, socializing, and daily life.

Team Prologue has partnered with the Hong Kong Let's Talk ADHD Association to arrange multiple media interviews featuring the association's founder and ADHD families.

Through a series of free online and physical seminars, as well as citywide lightbox and escalator advertisements across the MTR network, we emphasize that families are a vital support system for ADHDers. Whether for children or adults, understanding and support from family members are essential for overcoming the challenges of ADHD and harnessing their strengths. Let's revisit the fantastic moments, insightful sharing, highlight video and media coverages below!

The Awareness Week kicked off on October 26 at Fortune Metropolis in Hung Hom with a fun day and opening ceremony, combining education with entertainment to enhance society's understanding and support for ADHD individuals. The fun day featured an engaging parent-child fitness activity, the "Inflatable Sausage Game," allowing parents and children to expend their energy while highlighting the benefits of exercise for ADHDers.

The opening ceremony was graced by officiating guests Ms Linda Lam Mei-sau, SBS, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission, and Professor Ian Wong Chi-kei, Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, HKUMed. We were also delighted to welcome back the ADHD Awareness Week celebrity ambassador, Ms Ali Lee, who shared her insights with attendees, and prepared healthy snacks with some families.

Ms Amanda Fok noted that Awareness Week emphasizes family empowerment through fruitful expert-led seminars and practical workshops, and families can support ADHDers to lead fulfilling lives. While the public is more familiar with ADHD issues in children, this group will face new challenges as they grow up and raise the next generation. Let’s Talk ADHD aims to ensure that ADHD individuals receive appropriate support at different stages of life, breaking the cycle of intergenerational challenges.

Ms Linda Lam Mei-sau, SBS, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission expressed gratitude to the organizer for arranging this campaign for five consecutive years, enhancing public understanding of ADHD and ensuring that individuals could enjoy equal opportunities to participate in society and unleash their potential. Adults with ADHD are often reluctant to seek professional help due to the public preconceptions against those with mental health needs. She believed that under the Association's leadership, we could build a more inclusive society for people with ADHD.

Medication can also effectively manage their condition. Through the Awareness Week, society can gain a deeper understanding towards the nature of ADHD, thereby reducing the stigma attached to people with ADHD.
