Building on the success of hosting "The 8th Media Convergence Awards cum AIM Annual Dinner" last year, Team Prologue once again assisted the Hong Kong Association of Interactive Marketing (AIM) in organizing the new edition of the awards, which have reached an unprecedented scale. After more than half a year of effort, from designing this year's theme, coordinating professional judging and public voting, to preparing the awards dinner and media releases, the event was successfully held on 23 January this year!
The Media Convergence Awards (the Awards) aims at awarding outstanding local media to recognize their efforts to adapt and converge technological tools effectively to convey news and information. Also, five new specialized awards, namely “Best ESG Influence Media”, “Best Lifestyle Media”, “Best Infotainment Media”, “Best Technology Media” and “Best Finance Media”, are introduced this year to underscore niche media outlets and content.
The event was honored to have Professor Sun Dong, JP, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, as the Guest of Honor. Together with Mr Francis Fong, the Chairman of AIM, the judging panel and distinguished guests presented awards to the winners in various categories.
In his opening address, Professor Sun Dong, JP, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, mentioned that the government is committed to promoting the development of the digital economy and smart cities, encouraging various industries to upgrade and transform through technology. He also shared his expectations for the media industry, encouraging the media organizations to maintain its momentum, keep innovating, and continue to uphold the professional and valuable virtues, content, and operations that they hold dear.

During the welcome speech, Mr Francis Fong, the Chairman of AIM stated that, the Awards serves as a recognized and prestigious honor within the industry, acknowledging media organizations. Over the years, the awards has witnessed the achievements of media transformation and breakthroughs, growing together with everyone and witnessing the emergence of many new media outlets. Recently, the rapid development of generative AI has undoubtedly brought about profound changes and new challenges, reshaping the media landscape.

The dinner was also honored to have two well-known movie directors, Ms Oliver Chan and Norris Wong, awardees of Best New Director of the 38th and 39th Hong Kong Film Awards respectively, sharing their thoughts on film production and how they incorporate personal experience into their films and respond to societal issues during a panel discussion.
Director Oliver Chan stated, "During my student days, I lacked the resources to create films. The program (AIM's Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music)) offered funding and support to new filmmakers, and with a mindset that I would regret not trying, I was able to successfully produce a notable work through the program." And Director Norris Wong shared, "the program not only gave me the opportunity to participate in film production but also allowed me to showcase my songwriting works."

This year's awards ceremony hosted more than 300 guests, comprising representatives from award-winning media outlets, government and public sector officials, top executives from local and international companies, and professionals from the film industry. The event, spanning from the cocktail reception to the dinner, sought to create a platform for cross-industry networking.

As an award that recognizes the convergence of media, it is our ambition to let the logo design speak for its motto. In the latest edition, the rebranded award logo aims to reflect, on one hand, the important role of media organizations in conveying news and information, while on the other hand celebrating the significance of innovative transformation. Therefore, the new logo design centers on "妙筆生花" (the magical pen bringing forth flowers), symbolizing how traditional media often convey meaning through the "magical pen." The design features a fountain pen pointing out different-sized pixels, indicating the media industry's transition from traditional to digital, breaking through conventional frameworks, highlighting innovation, and pointing to the future. The pixelated dot texture forms an image of vibrant fireworks, symbolizing how digital communication makes information bloom like fireworks, and also implying that the media industry is flourishing with diverse and dazzling developments.

This year, the Awards were themed “Trailblazers: Celebrating Everlasting Success”, reflecting a wish for the long-term development of the Association and media organizations. The Awards also aimed to inspire the media professionals to sustain their innovative spirit amidst the new challenges brought by the wave of technological advancements, encouraging them to continue playing the role of pioneers. On that evening, whether it was the event booklet, the main stage visuals, or the cocktail party backdrop, every visual item was thoughtfully aligned with this theme, symbolizing a trailblazer running tirelessly on the vibrant track of transformation.
