For many, carnival is a great avenue for fun; however, for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder ("ASD"), it is not easy to blend in at festive events amid noisy and crowded surroundings.
Curated by the Q Plus A Art Foundation and sponsored by S.F. Express (Hong Kong) during the AIA Carnival , the "A Bus" initiative aims to create a more inclusive environment for the ASD community, who often face challenges in public spaces. The A Bus kick-off ceremony was held on 8th Jan, marking the first autism-friendly art bus in Hong Kong.

Converted from a retired bus, "A Bus" is specifically designed for the ASD community, with the first-ever "quiet room" located in a public space. This quiet room on the upper deck provides a comfortable and quiet environment to reduce sensory stimulation of individuals with autism. The lower deck features an audio experience that allows visitors to enter the sensory world of individuals with autism, thereby inspiring them to consider how to support people with different needs and embrace inclusion.
Team Prologue was honored to devise and execute the media campaign, including media liaison, media reception and media tour at the kick-off ceremony, as well as press releases and feature interviews to extend media exposure over weeks and through diversify channels. We sincerely hope that this meaningful campaign will raise public awareness and understanding of autism and social inclusion, and that there will be more inclusive facilities in the community to make Hong Kong a joyful, inclusive city.
Curator Ms. Amy Chong introduces the concept of Bus A and its facilities to the media.
Hong Kong's first quiet room located in a public space is situated on the upper deck of the A Bus. The lower deck showcases "Waiting for Your Postcard," featuring 100 hand-drawn postcards from children with autism.
The S.F. Community Bus A—where "A" stands for Autism, Accessibility, Art, and All—is a testament to Q Plus A Art Foundation's belief that combining accessibility with art paves the way for inclusion. Bus A highlights the need for autism-friendly environments in public spaces, as many caregivers report discrimination and a lack of accessibility. --- Curator Ms. Amy Chong
