Event Management Case Sharing: E-Commerce and Cross-border Payment Conference

Team Prologue is honored to organize a conference titled the " E-commerce & Cross-border Payment" for the Hong Kong Association of Interactive Marketing (AIM) and explore the latest trends in post-pandemic marketing with marketing, e-commerce and advertisement professionals.



Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, consumer shopping patterns have undergone structural changes, driving the flourishing development of e-commerce. The increasing prevalence of online shopping and the widespread adoption of electronic payment methods have further stimulated the advancement of cross-border payments, resulting in enhanced convenience for both consumers and businesses.


To understand the post-pandemic economy and explore new market opportunities, AIM organized " E-commerce & Cross-border Payment" conference on November 10th, 2023. The conference was honored to have Mr. Joseph Chan, JP, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, as the guest of honor, as well as Mr. Tim Ying, Chief Executive Officer of Octopus Holdings Limited, and several industry leaders sharing their experiences and insights with over 100 participants from the marketing industry and business senior executives.

Mr. Francis Fong, Chairman of AIM, said that it is encouraging to see successful digital transformation of many traditional companies, rising of e-commerce platforms and payment technologies. Coupled with the strong growth of cross-border payments, these developments not only enrich the shopping experience for consumers but also help merchants diversify their markets, increase operational efficiency, and reduce transaction costs and risks.

"I believe that understanding the development of e-commerce and cross-border payment tools will be the key to success in post-pandemic marketing. We look forward to exploring new opportunities with the business community as the economy recovers."

Mr. Joseph Chan, JP, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, mentioned that the HKSAR government has been collaborating with financial regulatory institutions, working towards improving financial technology infrastructure and there have been advancements in promoting the development of electronic payments, cross-border payments, and e-CNY.

Mr. Edwin Lai, Head of Business Development and International Business of Octopus, introduced various cross-border payment solutions provided by Octopus, to facilitate Hong Kong residents' travel and cross-border consumption.


Furthermore, the conference featured several prominent speakers who shared their experiences in e-commerce and payment solutions. Mr. Wing Chu, Principal Economist (Greater China Research Team) of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, discussed how enterprises can utilize the opportunities of the national dual circulation economic strategy, through the Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta, to expand the market. Mr. SK Lee, Alternate Chief Executive of RD Wallet, shared his company's latest cross-border payment solutions to address industry pain points.  Mr. Terence Lam, Regional Sales Director of XTransfer Limited analyzed trends in trade between China and Hong Kong and discussed post-pandemic opportunities for Hong Kong's small and medium enterprises.


Ms. Jelly Zhou, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of HKTV, shared various new features and the automated warehousing system of HKTV, aiming to elevate e-commerce to new heights. Mr. Kenny Sham, General Manager of Hong Kong and Macau of Klook, discussed how the tourism products transformed during the pandemic and enhancement of travel experiences and brand influence during the recovery phase. Meanwhile, advertising and online sales platforms are essential elements of marketing. Mr. Ray Lee, General Manager of JCDecaux Transport, shared the latest trends in post-pandemic marketing and advertising placement. Mr. Nick Chiu, Deputy General Manager of SHOPLINE HK, shared trends in integrating online and offline sales models of merchants.


Speakers shared about the opportunities of cross-border payment and the development of e-commerce in the panel discussion sessions.
